For the most current build, if you have an older one,   please select this :

http//hvacsuite.com/HVACSuite_exeonly.exe  This is Build 1.0.2, and is only ~ 2 meg.  See the revision history at the bottom of this page for more information.

It  is a self-extracting zip file of just the EXE - run it, and when it asks, tell it to extract to c:\Program files \HVACSuite, assuming that is where you installed HVACSuite.

Possible Installation issue -  HVACSuite gives error messages such as  'SQL SERVER ODBC DRIVER SUPPORT ERROR' .

Cause - the Microsoft database drivers MDAC 2.7 and JET 4.0 are included in the HVACSuite install distro.  They will install automatically as needed.  If some of the files are 'currently in use' by another process on the machine, causing them to not be updateable, the install process may fail.  Then when running HVACSuite, you will get 'Run time error 5', because the drivers are missing.

Because the installation may require re-booting your computer ( this will vary depending on exactly what DLL's were already present and 'registered', it is highly recommended to SAVE the install file to your disk, and run it from there, rather than using the 'OPEN' option on the download screen.  BTW, this applies as good practice to ALL programs.  Using the 'OPEN' option in your browser and running the install directly in that way may result in an incomplete install, and error messages like 'Run time error 5', which indicates that a component was not installed.

Fix - as per Microsoft : ( Note - XP users - make sure you're running Service Pack 2, the current official Microsoft version )

1 )    MDAC :    http://msdn.microsoft.com/data/mdac/downloads/default.aspx  .  MDAC 2.7 or above ( 2.8 ) is what you want.  Windows XP already has these, so you will get an error message - just hit 'cancel' to continue.  Get the DL anyway, just in case some drivers are out of date or corrupted.

         2 )    JET :  http://support.microsoft.com/kb/239114#XSLTH3131121123120121120120 ( JET related, all versions of Windows ) ,

Run this to install JET drivers under Windows ME. : Download the Jet40SP8_WMe.exe package now.   For other Windows versions, see the above link for instructions.

3 )   Re-boot the computer after the above, and then re-run the HVACSUITE install package, so that the install can complete.

Running a full system report ( if requested )

1) Find the file called MSINFO32.EXE or Winmsd.exe, and run it.  You can usually do this  by clicking Start / Run, and typing in the name.  If that doesn't work, use Explorer or My Computer to search for it.  It may be located in C:\Program Files\Common Files\Microsoft Shared\MSInfo folder.

2 ) In the left-hand pane, select the top line System Information.

3 ) From the menu, select Action / All Tasks / Save as system information file.  Give it any file name you please.

4 ) Email me that report.

REVISION HISTORY

8/04 - Build 1.0.1   HVACSuite now runs a log file during start up called 'HVACSuite.log', in the HVACSuite folder. If you have problems, please forward me that log file, so I can continue to improve the product.  Fixes a 'Run time error 5' on start-up on a few hardware setups.

8/30 - Build 1.0.2 - fixes a reported error that when the program first loads, an error "Run-time error 3704 . Operation is not allowed when the object is closed" comes up, and the program terminates.  This occurred only on certain computers with variations in disk drive response times.
